System Setup & Cultivation Tips

• Media Selection for Refills: While a perlite/vermiculite mix is included, AutoPots perform exceptionally well with a 50/50 mix of loose Coco Coir and horticultural Perlite, or a 50/50 mix of soil and Hydro Clay LECA. Always avoid pure soil or pure fine coco, as they retain too much moisture and can suffocate the root zone over time.
• Reservoir Placement: Always ensure the bottom of the 35-litre supply tank is elevated at least 150mm (15cm) above the highest Smart Valve tray. This height creates the necessary gravitational water pressure required to snap the valve open and shut cleanly.
• The Initial Top-Watering: When first transplanting seedlings into the 10" pots, hand-water them from the top using a weak nutrient solution. Keep the pots out of the AutoPot tray and water them normally for 7–10 days until their root systems have established deep into the pot. Only turn on the gravity tank once roots reach the bottom.
• System Maintenance: Clean the inline tank filter once every few weeks to prevent organic biofilms or mineral scale from restricting the water flow. Avoid using thick organic additives in the tank, as they can settle and clog the 4mm supply lines. Stick to clean, mineral-based hydroponic nutrients.
