AutoPot - Marix Root Control Mat – Heavy-Duty Base Filtration & Root-Pruning Barriers
Protect the mechanical integrity of your gravity-fed irrigation network with the AutoPot Marix Root Control Mat. Specially engineered to sit flat inside the bottom of standard 10" (250mm) and 12" (300mm) production pots before adding your substrate, these durable mats act as an essential physical filtration barrier. Because AutoPot systems rely on free-flowing capillary water channels, loose media particles or aggressive root strands migrating out of the pot's drainage holes can quickly clog supply lines or jam the sensitive AQUAvalve float mechanism. The Marix Mat solves this entirely—intercepting escapee root tips, holding fine aggregate firmly inside the container, and ensuring your sub-irrigation trays remain clean, free-draining, and operating flawlessly.
Best For: AutoPot Hydropak, 8-Pot, and XL standalone modules, loose substrate configurations (Coco/Perlite, Soil/Clay Pebbles), and commercial multi-pot facilities looking to eliminate valve-jamming blockages.
Key Features
- Mechanical Float Protection: Prevents aggressive root systems from creeping out of the pot base and nesting inside the valve chamber, ensuring the AQUAvalve can snap shut cleanly without mechanical interference.
- Loose Media Filtration Matrix: Acts as a fine, porous screen that prevents loose **Coco Coir**, peat, or fine perlite from washing out of the base holes and muddying the irrigation tray floor.
- High-Permeability Water Flow: Woven from specialized, non-absorbent horticultural geotextile fibers that allow water and dissolved nutrients to wick upward into the pot effortlessly without restriction.
- Minimises Channel Blockages: Keeps the plumbing paths clear, guaranteeing a completely level fluid baseline across all connected multi-pot trays.
- Inert & Root-Safe Design: Fabricated from high-tensile synthetic materials that resist root penetration, rot, and structural decay under continuous exposure to moisture and concentrated hydroponic salts.
- Precision Fitted Sizing: Available in both 250mm (for standard 10-inch pots) and 300mm (for larger 12-inch XL pots) configurations to ensure complete edge-to-edge floor coverage inside the container.

Nursery Placement & Management Tips
- Flawless Positioning: Before adding any growing medium, ensure the bottom of your pot is wiped clean of debris. Lay the Marix Mat completely flat over the internal floor of the container, making sure it tucks tightly into the bottom radius edges with no folded or puckered gaps.
- Layering with LECA Pebbles: If your system layout utilizes a 2–3cm base layer of **Professor's Nutrients Hydro Clay**, place the Marix Mat directly down onto the plastic floor first, then pour your rinsed clay pebbles right on top before backfilling with your main coco-perlite blend.
- Checking Trays Mid-Cycle: During your routine nursery walk-throughs, pop the lids off your Hydrotray valve compartments. If you notice any fine loose sediment or root tips poking into the tray, verify that the Marix mat was not accidentally dislodged or displaced during the initial potting process.
- Post-Harvest Reclamation: At the end of the crop run, tip the root mass out of the container. Gently peel the Marix mat away from the bottom of the root ball. Scrub off any clinging organic matter, soak the mat in a mild sterilising solution or hydrogen peroxide wash, rinse thoroughly, and reuse it for your next cycle.
Ideal For (Uses)
- High-Aeration Loose Mixes: Crucial when cultivating in lightweight, high-perlite, or loose-fibre coco substrates that are highly prone to washing through drainage slots.
- Vigorous, Long-Term Cultivation: Maintaining immaculate multi-month crop cycles (such as large mother plants or heavy-fruiting tomatoes) where root masses expand aggressively.
- Commercial Facility Automation: Standardizing pot preparation procedures across scale production lines to guarantee zero downtime caused by jammed or overflowing trays.

Important Note on Availability & Shipping
Our warehouse serves as our office and logistics centre rather than a retail showroom. Because we ship from multiple locations and manage high-turnover stock, not all items are available for immediate pickup.
Lead Times:
- In-Stock Items: Usually ready for dispatch the same day.
- Supplier-Dependent Items: Usually take 2–8 weeks to arrive, depending on supplier availability. Products from Adloheat may take 8–12 weeks to manufacture—they are made to order in Australia by a small business, and longer lead times reflect the care put into quality.
While we strive for fast delivery, some timelines are subject to supplier availability and are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience as we source the best quality gear for your project.
Biosecurity & Interstate Shipping Restrictions
Due to strict state biosecurity regulations, we are unable to ship some products to certain states and territories:
- Potting Mixes cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA), the Northern Territory (NT), or Tasmania (TAS).
- Seeds cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA).
Orders placed for these items to restricted states will be cancelled and refunded. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the items being ordered can lawfully be delivered to their state or territory.
