Cultiv8 - E40-to-PGZ18 315W CMH Lamp Adaptor – Commercial Reflector Retrofit Conversion Socket
Maximize your existing capital infrastructure while upgrading to elite solar-spectrum lighting efficiency with the Cultiv8 E40 CMH Lamp Adaptor. Specifically engineered for commercial growers and boutique facility managers, this precision-molded mechanical and electrical converter allows a specialized twin-pin 315W Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH) lamp to seamlessly interface with a standard, legacy High-Intensity Discharge (HID) hydroponic reflector hood. Traditionally, upgrading from standard Metal Halide or High-Pressure Sodium lamps to high-efficiency CMH technology required purchasing entirely new, dedicated reflector fixtures—a massive capital expense. This heavy-duty adaptor completely eliminates that financial barrier. Featuring a robust, threaded male E40 Mogul base on one end and a female bi-pin PGZ18 twist-lock socket on the other, it transforms your lighting footprint instantly. Operation is completely plug-and-play: simply screw the adaptor directly into your reflector’s existing standard E40 socket, and the hood is instantly retrofitted to receive high-UV, high-terpene producing 315W CMH lamps. Built to rigorous commercial horticultural specifications to handle intense ignition pulses, the socket design ensures absolute structural stability and clean, gas-tight electrical contact. Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty against material and craftsmanship defects, this cost-effective component allows you to scale your crop quality, terpene production, and spectral density using the hardware you already own.
Best For: Budget-conscious facility retrofits, upgrading legacy HPS reflectors to full-spectrum CMH, maximizing existing grow room hardware infrastructure, and seamless mixed-spectrum lighting integration.
Key Features & Technical Advancements
- Instant Plug-and-Play E40 Conversion: Converts any standard Mogul E40 reflector socket into a specialized PGZ18 twin-pin CMH socket by simply screwing it into place—no wiring modifications required.
- Universal 315W CMH Bulb Compatibility: Engineered to accept and securely lock all major brands of 315W horticultural CMH lamps, ensuring total flexibility when sourcing replacement bulbs.
- High-Stability PGZ18 Twist-Lock Socket: Features a specialized twin-pin female connection that securely grips the lamp base, preventing sagging, rotational slippage, or uneven light distribution.
- Industrial Ceramo-Plastic Insulation: Constructed with premium, high-temperature resistant insulating materials designed to easily withstand the high-voltage startup pulses required by HID ballasts.
- Cost-Efficient Infrastructure Scaling: Allows commercial cultivation facilities to transition to premium full-spectrum lighting grids without the massive capital expense of buying brand-new reflector hoods.
- 12-Month Manufacturer Protection Plan: Backed by a full 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, ensuring reliable, continuous performance across multiple crop cycles.

Advanced CMH Socket Retrofitting & Substrate Control Tips
- Verifying Proper Alignment and Lamp Centering: When screwing the Cultiv8 adaptor into your existing reflector, the added length of the adaptor will shift the physical center point of the 315W CMH bulb slightly forward. After installation, verify that the bulb’s arc tube is positioned as closely as possible to the center of your reflector's focal curve. This ensuring that the high-output full-spectrum photons bounce down evenly, preventing hot spots or light loss along the outer edges of your benches.
- Mandatory Ballast and Electrical Coordination: While this adaptor lets you physically screw a 315W CMH bulb into a standard E40 socket, it does not change the electrical requirements of the lamp. You must disconnect your old 600W or 1000W ballast and wire the reflector cord directly into a dedicated, low-frequency 315W CMH Digital Ballast. Firing a 315W CMH bulb with a standard HPS ballast will instantly destroy the premium ceramic arc tube and create a safety hazard.
- Optimizing Substrate and Irrigation for Sun-Like Spectrums: Upgrading to a 315W CMH lamp introduces intense UV-A, UV-B, and full-spectrum light that supercharges plant transpiration, leading to faster root-zone dry-backs. Support this rapid cell metabolism by potting your crops in breathable fabric aeration pots filled with a light, highly porous 70/30 blend of Coco Coir and Horticultural Perlite. Keep your wet-dry irrigation cycles flawlessly uniform by connecting your drip lines to a high-pressure Plont PPH Submersible Pump managed by an automated digital shot-timer.
- Setting Up Safety Drip Loops for Retrofitted Cord Sets: Because retrofitted grow lighting spaces run at high humidity levels during vegetative propagation (60% to 70% RH), protecting your electrical hardware is paramount. When routing the heavy-duty cord from your newly converted reflector to your remote 315W CMH ballast, always ensure the line drops down into a loose, shallow U-shape bend right before it plugs in. This forms a natural "drip loop"—any ambient room condensation or stray moisture tracking down the wire will pool safely at the bottom of the bend and drip to the floor rather than running directly into your electrical terminals.
Ideal For (Uses)
- Budget-Conscious Grow Room Upgrades: The ultimate option for indoor growers running traditional HID setups who want to switch to high-efficiency Ceramic Metal Halide lighting without buying entirely new reflector hoods.
- Mixed Spectrum Supplemental Overlays: Perfect for commercial facilities looking to screw a high-UV 315W CMH lamp into an extra standard reflector hood, hanging it between large-scale HPS lights to fill in the missing blue and UV spectrum gaps.
- Boutique Essential Oil & Resin Tents: Ideal for connoisseur growers looking to maximize resin production, intense aromatic profiles, and vivid plant colors by cost-effectively retrofitting standard equipment to run full-spectrum CMH lamps.

Important Note on Availability & Shipping
Our warehouse serves as our office and logistics centre rather than a retail showroom. Because we ship from multiple locations and manage high-turnover stock, not all items are available for immediate pickup.
Lead Times:
- In-Stock Items: Usually ready for dispatch the same day.
- Supplier-Dependent Items: Usually take 2–8 weeks to arrive, depending on supplier availability. Products from Adloheat may take 8–12 weeks to manufacture—they are made to order in Australia by a small business, and longer lead times reflect the care put into quality.
While we strive for fast delivery, some timelines are subject to supplier availability and are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience as we source the best quality gear for your project.
Biosecurity & Interstate Shipping Restrictions
Due to strict state biosecurity regulations, we are unable to ship some products to certain states and territories:
- Potting Mixes cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA), the Northern Territory (NT), or Tasmania (TAS).
- Seeds cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA).
Orders placed for these items to restricted states will be cancelled and refunded. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the items being ordered can lawfully be delivered to their state or territory.
