HydroBitz - Golf Ball Air Stone – Heavy-Duty 50mm Nutrient Reservoir Aerator
Maximise dissolved oxygen levels and eliminate stagnation in your nutrient tanks with the commercial-leaning HydroBitz Golf Ball Air Stone. Purpose-built to handle the demanding environments of modern hydroponic setups, this highly popular 50mm spherical aerator is designed to drive continuous gas exchange deep within your water columns. By breaking down high-volume air streams into millions of micro-bubbles, it significantly upgrades root zone oxygenation while preventing nutrient dropout and structural solution layering. Unlike flimsy alternatives, the HydroBitz features a premium dual-inlet metal connector casing that completely eliminates the risk of brittle plastic barbs snapping off during routine reservoir maintenance. It is an indispensable asset for serious growers looking to encourage explosive, clean root growth.
Best For: Deep Water Culture (DWC) buckets, active cloning and propagation stations, primary nutrient reservoirs, master mixing tanks, and compost tea brewers.
Key Features
- Optimised 50mm Spherical Design: The classic "golf ball" geometric profile maximizes the operational surface area, emitting an even, 360-degree curtain of fine bubbles across the reservoir floor.
- Heavy-Duty Metal Dual-Inlet Barb: Engineered with a robust, corrosion-resistant metal connection point that seamlessly accommodates both standard 4mm and 6mm flexible air tubing lines without requiring plastic step-down adapters.
- Aggressive Nutrient Agitation: Delivers a highly efficient scrubbing action that prevents heavy organic additives, complex beneficial microbes, and concentrated liquid fertilisers from settling out as tank sludge.
- Substrate & Root Zone Vitality: Infusing your reservoirs with rich, dissolved oxygen helps safeguard roots against anaerobic pathogens like Pythium (Root Rot), ensuring your root architecture remains bright, white, and highly absorbent.
- Retail-Ready Presentation: Each individual air stone dispatches neatly carded for clean, professional hanging retail displays.

Nursery Layout & Reservoir Aeration Management Tips
- Matching Pump Outputs to Your Stone: To get the most fine micro-bubbles out of your 50mm HydroBitz stone, make sure your air pump supplies enough volume. A general rule of thumb for hydroponic reservoirs is to deliver approximately 1 litre of air per minute (L/min) for every 4 litres of nutrient solution. If your air pump line pressure is too low, bubbles will only escape from the very top of the stone rather than the entire surface.
- The Anti-Siphon Safety Mandate: If you place your electronic air pump on the floor alongside your active nutrient reservoir, water can siphon backwards down the air line into the pump's motor core if a sudden power outage occurs. To completely protect your electrical equipment, always mount your air pump higher than the top water line of the reservoir, or install a dedicated **Plastic Non-Return Check Valve** into the 4mm or 6mm tubing line.
- Securing an Airtight Hose Compression: When running standard 4mm vinyl air hose onto the dual metal inlet, the fit should be snug. If you find the tubing stiff or hard to push past the metal retention barbs, simply dip the tip of the hose into a cup of hot water for 10 seconds. This temporarily expands the polymer material, allowing it to slide effortlessly over the metal seat for an airtight seal.
- Routine Porosity Restoration Protocol: Over consecutive weeks of continuous use, concentrated mineral salt crusts and thick biological biofilms will naturally start clogging the tiny pores of the ceramic stone, reducing your bubble volume. Every few months, pull the stone out of the tank and soak it in a mild descaling wash, diluted hydrogen peroxide, or warm water with vinegar for a few hours. Give it a gentle brush to clear the surface pores and restore 100% factory aeration rates.
Ideal For (Uses)
- Deep Water Culture (DWC) Buckets: Keeping the root columns of individual heavy-feeding crops completely submerged in a highly oxygenated, rapidly moving nutrient bath.
- Cloning & Propagation Stations: Creating an aggressive, aerated bubble environment inside cutting reservoirs to maximize moisture delivery and trigger rapid, clean root strikes.
- Primary Fertigation Reservoirs: Maintaining perfect oxygen saturation levels in large staging tanks filled with fast-draining media like **Coco Coir** loops, ensuring plants receive highly oxygenated feeds with every shot.

Important Note on Availability & Shipping
Our warehouse serves as our office and logistics centre rather than a retail showroom. Because we ship from multiple locations and manage high-turnover stock, not all items are available for immediate pickup.
Lead Times:
- In-Stock Items: Usually ready for dispatch the same day.
- Supplier-Dependent Items: Usually take 2–8 weeks to arrive, depending on supplier availability. Products from Adloheat may take 8–12 weeks to manufacture—they are made to order in Australia by a small business, and longer lead times reflect the care put into quality.
While we strive for fast delivery, some timelines are subject to supplier availability and are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience as we source the best quality gear for your project.
Biosecurity & Interstate Shipping Restrictions
Due to strict state biosecurity regulations, we are unable to ship some products to certain states and territories:
- Potting Mixes cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA), the Northern Territory (NT), or Tasmania (TAS).
- Seeds cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA).
Orders placed for these items to restricted states will be cancelled and refunded. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the items being ordered can lawfully be delivered to their state or territory.
