IntroGro - 400W Blue Spectrum Metal Halide Vegetative Retrofit Lamp – 6000K High-Density Propagation Engine
Establish a highly resilient foundation for heavy floral yields by optimizing your canopy's vegetative development with the IntroGro 400W Metal Halide Lamp. Specifically engineered for commercial nurseries, propagation rooms, and the early vegetative growth phase, this high-performance High-Intensity Discharge (HID) bulb emits an intense, focused blue spectrum. Delivering a pure 6000 Kelvin color temperature, it perfectly replicates the crisp light of spring skies, providing the vital photon wavelengths required to maximize photosynthetic efficiency during structural stacking. This targeted blue-spectrum radiation suppresses vertical stretching, signaling your plants to build shorter internodal spacing, bushier lateral branch sets, thicker stem diameters, and lush, dark-green fan leaves. Built with an intelligent retrofit electrical architecture, the IntroGro 400W lamp is universal-ballast compatible—meaning it can be screwed into standard reflector hoods and fired by almost any standard 400W digital or magnetic ballast, including those natively designed for High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) fixtures. This cross-compatibility eliminates the need for purchasing specialized single-spectrum ballasts, allowing commercial facility managers to easily switch from vegetative blue light to flowering orange-red light using the exact same hardware footprint. Engineered with premium arc tube components to resist lumen depreciation over long cycles, this robust lamp provides up to 10,000 hours of continuous operational life, giving boutique and commercial cultivators a highly reliable tool to supercharge their crops' vegetative potential.
Best For: High-density vegetative structural stacking, broadleaf propagation and cloning benches, short internodal stem training, and retrofitting existing HPS lighting systems for early-stage growth.
Key Features & Technical Advancements
- Pure 6000K Crisp Blue Spectrum: Concentrates photon output in the vital blue wavelengths, triggering heavy leaf chlorophyll production while preventing leggy plant growth and long, weak stems.
- Universal Retrofit Electrical Engineering: Designed with an adaptable internal ignition profile that runs flawlessly on any standard 400W digital or magnetic ballast, including common HPS operating systems.
- Structural Branching Optimization: Promotes bushier lateral node stacking and thicker main trunks, establishing a strong, rigid plant architecture capable of supporting heavy flower clusters later.
- 10,000-Hour Long-Life Operational Lifespan: Built using heavy-duty electrodes and a premium gas-fill mixture to deliver highly stable lumen output over an estimated 10,000 hours of use.
- High Visual Identification Clarity: The crisp 6000 Kelvin white light provides an accurate, clear visual environment, making it incredibly easy for cultivation crews to spot nutrient deficiencies or early pest issues on the leaves.
- Commercial Grade E40 Thread Base: Outfitted with a standard Mogul E40 threaded base that screws tightly into standard horticultural reflectors, ensuring solid electrical contact and preventing power arcing.

Advanced Blue Spectrum Management & Substrate Control Tips
- Optimizing Hang Heights and Canopy Coverage: Because a 400W HID lamp creates significant radiant heat alongside intense blue light, maintaining proper distance is vital to keep leaf temperatures down. Position your reflector 45cm to 60cm above the plant canopy during early vegetative growth. As your plants build up a bushier structure and harden off, you can lower the fixture to 35cm to 40cm above the leaf tops to drive maximum photon penetration straight down into lower nodes.
- Root-Zone Hydration and Substrate Coordination: The crisp 6000K light spectrum accelerates vegetative cell division, causing plants to rapidly build out root networks and drink water. Support this explosive early root metabolism by potting your clones or seedlings in breathable fabric aeration pots filled with a light, highly porous 70/30 blend of Coco Coir and Horticultural Perlite. Ensure your wet-dry irrigation cycles stay flawlessly uniform by connecting your drip lines to a high-pressure Plont PPH Submersible Pump managed by an automated digital shot-timer.
- Managing Airflow and Heat Dissipation: While the 400W MH lamp runs cooler than a larger 600W or 1000W bulb, it still generates warm ambient air inside the reflector hood. To keep your grow space at the ideal vegetative temperature (25°C to 28°C) and prevent leaf edges from curling, install an inline extraction fan to pull hot air out of your space, combined with oscillating floor fans to keep air moving smoothly around your containers.
- Setting Up Safety Drip Loops for E40 Lamp Sockets: Since vegetative grow rooms and propagation benches require high humidity levels (60% to 70% RH), protecting your electrical hardware is paramount. When routing the heavy-duty cord from your reflector socket to your remote ballast, always ensure the line drops into a loose, shallow U-shape bend right before it plugs in. This forms a natural "drip loop"—any ambient room condensation or stray moisture tracking down the wire will pool safely at the bottom of the bend and drip to the floor rather than running directly into your electrical connections.
Ideal For (Uses)
- Mother Plant Maintenance Enclosures: The ultimate lighting option for maintaining long-term mother plants, providing the ideal blue spectrum needed to continuously produce clean, sturdy, close-knuckle cuttings.
- Early Stage Structural Plant Training: Perfect for indoor growers looking to train their crops through topping or scrogging (Screen of Green), ensuring short node spacing and highly flexible, thick side branches.
- Single-Ballast Multi-Stage Grow Setups: Ideal for facility managers using an adaptable, multi-phase setup, allowing them to flip from vegetative growth to final flowering simply by swapping out the 400W MH lamp for an HPS bulb on the same ballast run.

Important Note on Availability & Shipping
Our warehouse serves as our office and logistics centre rather than a retail showroom. Because we ship from multiple locations and manage high-turnover stock, not all items are available for immediate pickup.
Lead Times:
- In-Stock Items: Usually ready for dispatch the same day.
- Supplier-Dependent Items: Usually take 2–8 weeks to arrive, depending on supplier availability. Products from Adloheat may take 8–12 weeks to manufacture—they are made to order in Australia by a small business, and longer lead times reflect the care put into quality.
While we strive for fast delivery, some timelines are subject to supplier availability and are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience as we source the best quality gear for your project.
Biosecurity & Interstate Shipping Restrictions
Due to strict state biosecurity regulations, we are unable to ship some products to certain states and territories:
- Potting Mixes cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA), the Northern Territory (NT), or Tasmania (TAS).
- Seeds cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA).
Orders placed for these items to restricted states will be cancelled and refunded. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the items being ordered can lawfully be delivered to their state or territory.
