Plont - PPH 450 Submersible Powerhead Pump – Compact High-Lift Hydroponic Drive
Drive your boutique grow tent irrigation lines, cloning manifolds, and reservoir mixing loops with the compact efficiency of the Plont PPH 450 Powerhead Pump. Purpose-built specifically for the demanding, mineral-dense environments of modern hydroponics, this robust, completely submersible pump is engineered to deliver a generous 450 L/hr flow rate alongside an impressive 0.95m maximum head height (vertical lift). Backed by a full 12-month manufacturer warranty and carrying official Australian Electrical Safety Certification, the PPH 450 features an ultra-efficient 6-watt motor core designed for safe, whisper-quiet, continuous 24/7 operation. Whether you are running an automated top-feed drip system for a few select specimens or maintaining active circulation in a propagation reservoir, this reliable workhorse ensures steady, trouble-free fluid dynamics.
Best For: Small indoor grow tents, multi-site propagation domes, individual cloning loops, nutrient reservoir recirculation, and boutique automated drip irrigation setups.
Key Features
- Hydroponic-Optimised Architecture: Crafted explicitly to operate continuously inside mineral-dense water systems, resisting corrosion from concentrated liquid fertilisers and synthetic flushing agents.
- Impressive Static Pressure Lift: Driven by an optimized 6-watt motor that comfortably pushes water to a maximum vertical height of 0.95 metres, easily handling the lift required for standard raised grow benches or tent trays.
- 100% Submersible Waterproof Casing: Enclosed in a rugged, resin-sealed polymer housing with an IPX8 rating, ensuring complete electrical safety when operating deep within your nutrient mixing tanks.
- Certified Electrical Compliance: Outfitted with strict Australian Electrical Safety Certification and a practical 1.8-metre power cable, providing peace of mind when running water loops in damp indoor growing environments.
- Dual Interchangeable Outlet Barbs: Dispatches complete with 8mm and 13mm screw-in outlet nozzles, allowing quick, tool-free integration with standard flexible hydroponic tubing diameters.
- Energy-Efficient, Low-Heat Operation: The ultra-low 6W power draw keeps your facility electricity footprint minimal while ensuring virtually zero thermal heat is transferred into your sensitive nutrient solutions.

Nursery Layout & Fluid Dynamics Optimization Tips
- Factoring in Vertical Lift Losses: When mapping out your feed lines, keep in mind that a pump's maximum flow rate decreases as your vertical delivery height increases. While the PPH 450 tops out at 450 L/hr at zero lift, pushing water up onto a 0.5-metre-high stand will naturally lower the final delivery velocity. Always ensure your target tray height sits comfortably below the 0.95m maximum limit.
- Preventing Intrusive Air-Locks: If you fully drain and clean your reservoir during a weekly nutrient tank change-out, an air bubble can occasionally become trapped inside the pump's impeller housing upon refilling. If the motor hums but fails to push fluid, simply tilt the pump completely sideways while submerged to allow the trapped air to bubble out.
- Substrate & Plumbing Matching: The 13mm outlet barb pairs beautifully with standard 13mm flexible vinyl feed lines. Use this setup to drive automated, low-pressure drip rings over fast-draining, high-porosity substrates like a 70/30 blend of loose **Coco Coir** and **Horticultural Perlite**, or a top-dressing layer of **Professor's Nutrients Hydro Clay** pebbles.
- Routine Mechanical Maintenance Loop: To secure flawless operation across consecutive harvest cycles, pull the front casing off the pump every couple of months and slide the magnetic impeller out. Clean away any built-up mineral scale, hard-water crust, or biological film with a small brush or a mild descaling rinse to keep it running like new.
Ideal For (Uses)
- Hobby-Scale Grow Tents: Providing a compact, space-saving pumping solution for automated feeding networks without cluttering small small-footprint reservoirs.
- Cloning & Seedling Propagation: Keeping your cutting teas and rooting reservoirs aggressively oxygenated and moving to encourage rapid, vigorous root strike.
- Small Nutrient Mixing Reservoirs: Ensuring concentrated liquid nutrient formulas, mineral additives, and pH correctors remain perfectly blended and suspended instead of settling at the bottom of the tank.
Oversized Item Delivery Options
Since oversized items require special handling, we may need to provide a custom freight quote for your order and will contact you with an updated shipping rate.
Available options include:
✔ Delivery to your closest depot for pickup - default method
✔ Direct delivery - requires forklift on site
✔ Direct delivery with tailgate lift truck (extra fees apply)
✔ Forklift loading at our warehouse (no extra charge if you arrange your own freight)
✔ Direct truck delivery (available in Victoria)
Important Notes:
- Shipping costs vary by location and method
- Because of the forklift requirement, delivery to the nearest depot is the default option and will be the method used unless you contact us to request otherwise.
Business Delivery:
- Business delivery is available for commercial customers only
- If you select business delivery and your products are bulky, it is your responsibility to ensure you have appropriate equipment (including forklifts) to unload products from the delivery truck
- If you select business delivery and you are not a business, you risk your product not being delivered and may incur additional fees to retrieve your order
- Business delivery customers must provide a valid business address and contact information
- Additional fees may apply for failed delivery attempts due to lack of appropriate unloading equipment
Let us know your preference, and we'll arrange the best solution for you!
Important Note on Availability & Shipping
Our warehouse serves as our office and logistics centre rather than a retail showroom. Because we ship from multiple locations and manage high-turnover stock, not all items are available for immediate pickup.
Lead Times:
- In-Stock Items: Usually ready for dispatch the same day.
- Supplier-Dependent Items: Usually take 2–8 weeks to arrive, depending on supplier availability. Products from Adloheat may take 8–12 weeks to manufacture—they are made to order in Australia by a small business, and longer lead times reflect the care put into quality.
While we strive for fast delivery, some timelines are subject to supplier availability and are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience as we source the best quality gear for your project.
Biosecurity & Interstate Shipping Restrictions
Due to strict state biosecurity regulations, we are unable to ship some products to certain states and territories:
- Potting Mixes cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA), the Northern Territory (NT), or Tasmania (TAS).
- Seeds cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA).
Orders placed for these items to restricted states will be cancelled and refunded. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the items being ordered can lawfully be delivered to their state or territory.
