The Opinel N°12 Carbon Steel Folding Knife is the largest model in Opinel's traditional collection of folding knives, engineered to tackle heavy-duty cutting tasks while remaining compact enough to fit comfortably in your pack or bag. Weighing less than 115 grams despite its impressive presence, this extra-large folding knife is perfectly optimized for camping, outdoor exploration, agriculture, and rugged utility work. Outfitted with a premium high-carbon blade, a varnished wooden handle, and the legendary dual-action Virobloc® safety ring, this knife carries forward over 130 years of authentic French craftsmanship.
Best For Campers, bushcrafters, farmers, and outdoor chefs who need a massive, highly capable folding knife that delivers maximum cutting leverage and an unmatched, razor-sharp edge without adding dead weight to their gear kits.

Ideal For (Uses)
-
Camping Kits & Camp Kitchens: The generous 12 cm blade functions beautifully as a full-sized folding chef's knife, making it perfect for carving large meats, slicing loaves of bread, cutting watermelons, and preparing hearty campsite meals.
-
Outdoor Utility & Bushcraft: An exceptional wilderness tool for processing large ropes, shaving tinder blocks, clearing light brush, cutting thick cordage, or managing substantial agricultural and farm tasks.
-
Demanding Handyman Projects: Easily handles heavy-duty scoring, trimming thick rubber tubing, slicing industrial insulation, and breaking down extra-large double-walled shipping crates.
Pro Tip: At less than 115 grams, the N°12 is incredibly lightweight for its size, giving you the raw cutting capacity of a large fixed-blade knife in a pocket-friendly, folding format. Because high-carbon steel is prone to oxidation, keep it performing perfectly by avoiding damp environments, wiping the blade completely dry after every use, and applying a light coat of food-safe mineral oil before storage. Over time, it will develop a beautiful, dark patina that showcases its hard-working history!

Important Note on Availability & Shipping
Our warehouse serves as our office and logistics centre rather than a retail showroom. Because we ship from multiple locations and manage high-turnover stock, not all items are available for immediate pickup.
Lead Times:
- In-Stock Items: Usually ready for dispatch the same day.
- Supplier-Dependent Items: Usually take 2–8 weeks to arrive, depending on supplier availability. Products from Adloheat may take 8–12 weeks to manufacture—they are made to order in Australia by a small business, and longer lead times reflect the care put into quality.
While we strive for fast delivery, some timelines are subject to supplier availability and are beyond our control. We appreciate your patience as we source the best quality gear for your project.
Biosecurity & Interstate Shipping Restrictions
Due to strict state biosecurity regulations, we are unable to ship some products to certain states and territories:
- Potting Mixes cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA), the Northern Territory (NT), or Tasmania (TAS).
- Seeds cannot be shipped to Western Australia (WA).
Orders placed for these items to restricted states will be cancelled and refunded. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the items being ordered can lawfully be delivered to their state or territory.
